A visit between showers on June 25th when a great many of the flowers, about to burst forth, had rain damage. ¬†However…. it was still fantastic and here’s a list of those roses which were looking particularly good:

The Alba rose ‘Queen of Denmark’

Bourbon rose ‘Variegata Di Bologna’ (repeat blooming – splashes of dark pink on cream)

Rugosa ‘Blanche Double de Coubert – this was Vita Sackville-West’s favourite rose – white, semi-double, repeat flowering, scented

Centifolia ‘Fantin-Latour’ , pure white semi-double flowers, continual flowering through the season

Gallica ‘Rosa Mundi’ pale pink with darker pink stripes

Along the wall near the tower, Rosa ‘Albertine’, a rambler with soft pink double flowers

Rosa ‘New Dawn’, repeat flowering climber with gorgeous pale pink flowers.
